Salted Caramel Apple Pie
Salted Caramel Apple Pie 🍏🍮🥧
Ingredients:
1 pre-made pie crust
6 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Coarse sea salt (for topping)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the pre-made pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
Drizzle 1/4 cup of the salted caramel sauce over the apples.
Cover the pie with the second crust, crimping the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
Brush the top crust with the beaten egg.
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Remove the pie from the oven and drizzle the remaining 1/4 cup of salted caramel sauce over the top.
Sprinkle a pinch of coarse sea salt over the caramel.
Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving.
