Candied Apples

Candied Apples for Halloween Recipe

Ingredients:
8 small apples
8 wooden sticks
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
Optional: candy decorations or sprinkles
Instructions:
Prepare the apples: Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Remove any stems and insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
Prepare the baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
Make the candy coating: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature. When the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), remove it from the heat and quickly stir in the red food coloring.
Coat the apples: Working quickly, dip each apple into the candy mixture, tilting the pan as needed to coat the apple completely. Allow any excess candy to drip off before placing the coated apple on the prepared baking sheet. If desired, decorate with candy decorations or sprinkles while the coating is still sticky.
Let cool: Allow the candied apples to cool completely at room temperature until the candy coating is hard.
Serve: Once the candy coating is fully set, the apples are ready to be enjoyed!
