Panettone





Classic Italian Panettone
Ingredients:

4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup warm milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup candied orange peel
Zest of 1 lemon
Zest of 1 orange
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
In another bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, kneading until a soft dough forms.
Mix in raisins, candied orange peel, lemon zest, orange zest, and vanilla.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Punch down dough and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
Place dough into a panettone mold and let it rise until it doubles in size.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake panettone for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.
