Grandma's Date Loaf

Image
When my mother wrote out this recipe, she copied it one of her Aunt's recipe books that was hand written. I've included my Great Grandmother's headstone. My Mom was just a bit over a year old when her Grandmother passed. Yet my Mom and Grandmother shared some amazing stories of her.  She was 4ft 9 in whereas her husband was 6ft 3in.  But she Ruled that house. My Grandmother was her 8th and last born child. Grandmother was just 21 years old when her mother died. Sent from AOL on Android

Noodles

Image
These Noodles are easy to make. The trick thought is to let them.ger almost dry before cutting them. I used a long piece of cotton thread to slice them very thin. Slip the thread under the roll. Cross them the pull the ends to cut off each noodle. Once sliced unroll and spread out and then start your broth. Once your broth is at a rolling boil, drop in your Noodles a handful at a time.  Stir gently, cover and reduce the heat. You want it to contune at a low boil for at least 15 minutes. Home made Noodles

Noodles are a great way to make Turkey or Chicken soup thicken and be filling. As welln it can help stretch a pot of soup enough to feed more people. Sent from AOL on Android

Dumplim's

Image
This was one of my Mother's "Go To" recipes when company came near Supper time. Especially  if we were having soup, or a jar of canned fruit that night. Mixed up, or adding a bit of sugar for the fruits it would stretch from a dinner for 4 people to a dinner for 6 or even 8 people. No one left our home, hungry! Sent from AOL on Android

My Lost wedding band

Instant panic attack. I lost my original wedding band over 40 years ago. In 2016 or 17, we found a band that we liked ,and jerry placed it on my hand the day we bought it.. I have taken it off a few times, since then,  mostly only for surgeries or health scans. Tonight, I lost it. It's been loose on my hand for about 2 months, more or less. Just enough that I took it off before I had a MRIN, a couple of weeks ago. I put it back on a few days after the MRI was done. I especially wore it yesterday, for our 49th anniversary.  I know I saw it on my hand this morning,  while working on a craft,  because  it kept sliding around.  This evening I had washed off a dusty plastic shoebox sized containers lid, and, because the rag I used was so dusty, I immediately rinsed it out, in the bathroom sink. That was a couple of hours ago.  I don't recall what I was about to do, when I noticed my ring was no linger on my finger.  Oh No! My...
